Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked breathtaking in a black gown as she greeted fans at the Red Sea Film Festival on Thursday. The actor participated in a session where she spoke about her journey in the film industry and how she has always viewed life as a student.
Before becoming an actor, Aishwarya won Miss World 1994. After winning the title, she made her acting debut in Mani Ratnam’s 1997 Tamil film Iruvar. During the interaction, Aishwarya said, “I incidentally joined the pageant.”
When asked why it was “incidentally,” she explained, “Because I was being invited by the people in the media to represent India and for me it was more than being part of a beauty pageant.”

Aishwarya spoke about women and how they are “inherently strong.” She said, “Women by birth are strong. All women are immensely strong, you are shakti, devi, you are the embodiment of strength, beauty, femininity, enjoy every aspect of being who you are and we need to be celebrated every second of our existence. Inherently women are strong and they are always striving, figuring out how to tie all that the life throws at you. How to embrace it and deal with things. That’s who we are in every role of life as daughters, sisters, mother, wives.”
Actor Kriti Sanon is also expected to make an appearance later at the Red Sea Film Festival. Other global names present include Oscar nominee Kirsten Dunst, The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev, and Queen Latifah. The fifth edition of the Red Sea Film Festival began on December 13. This year’s prestigious International Spectacular slate features Angelina Jolie’s Couture, Jude Law’s The Wizard of the Kremlin, and Rupert Wyatt’s Desert Warrior, starring Ben Kingsley and Anthony Mackie.
