Prachi Desai to play cricketer Azharuddin’s first wife in biopic

Actress Prachi Desai will be seen playing the cricketer’s first wife, Naureen.

According to reports, Prachi Desai who was last seen opposite Emraan Hashmi in ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’ (2010), may team up with the actor again for the biopic on Mohammed Azharuddin being produced by Balaji Motion Pictures.

Desai will be seen playing the cricketer’s first wife, Naureen, who got married to the cricketer in 1987. The couple got divorced in 1996 when they had two sons — Asad and Ayaz — together.
Azharuddin married actress Sangeeta Bijlani after that.

Desai’s spokesperson said that the actor is in talks for the film, but has yet to sign on the dotted lines. Desai has evinced interest in the story.

The film is being directed by Tony D’Souza and buzz is that Kareena Kapoor Khan will also be seen in it reprising the character of Sangeeta Bijlani.
