Chandigarh’s Chief Secretary ordered a detailed audit of the city’s cycle tracks and sought faster completion of road repairs.
A meeting chaired by Chief Secretary H. Rajesh Prasad was held on Friday to review various ongoing issues in the city. Senior officials of the Chandigarh Administration attended the meeting.
During the discussion, the need for better lighting, systematic pruning of trees and proper signage along cycle tracks across the city was highlighted. The Chief Secretary directed the Engineering Department to conduct a comprehensive audit of all cycle tracks.
Reviewing road repair works, Chief Engineer C. B. Ojha informed the meeting that 27 km of UT Chandigarh roads and 87 km of Municipal Corporation roads have been repaired so far. The Chief Secretary asked the departments to expedite the remaining work.
The meeting also took up representations regarding higher electricity bills after the installation of Solar Roof Top Plants in government residences. The Chief Secretary directed the Secretary, Science and Technology, to carry out a comprehensive study to assess the performance of these plants, including a comparison of electricity bills before and after installation. The report is to be submitted within two weeks.
