Actor David Schwimmer Saturday urged Elon Musk — owner of X (formerly Twitter) — to remove Kanye ‘Ye’ West from the social media platform, after the rapper made offensive statements targeting the Jewish community. The Friends star took to Instagram, criticising Musk for allowing West to continue using the platform, despite his history of  inflammatory remarks.

“We can’t stop a deranged bigot from spewing hate-filled, ignorant bile… but we CAN stop giving him a megaphone, Mr Musk,” Schwimmer wrote.

Highlighting the rapper’s social media fanbase, Schwimmer said, “Kanye West has 32.7 million followers on your platform, X. That’s twice as many people than the number of Jews in existence. His sick hate speech results in REAL LIFE violence against Jews.”

In a series of posts on X, West had proclaimed himself to be a “Nazi”, and also praised Adolf Hitler, among other anti-semitic statements.

Musk has not responded to Schwimmer’s post.
