Several parts of India are likely to experience scattered to widespread, light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds over this week, a forecast released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday stated.
While hailstorms are very likely to occur in Vidarbha, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Uttarakhand and Gujarat today, parts of Maharashtra and Marathwada will witness isloated hailstorms over the next two days.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail over Kerala and Mahe on Monday.
Delhi weather:
After recording its second-highest single-day rainfall in May since 1901 last week, Delhiites woke up to clear skies on Monday, with a minimum temperature of 23.2 degrees Celsius on Monday morning, 1.5 degrees below the season’s average, news agency PTI reported.
Thunderstorm with rain, along with lightning and strong surface winds are likely in the Capital today, and the maximum temperature is likely to rise to 34 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Meanwhile, the city recorded “moderate” air quality as the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 137.
Weather in other parts of India:
Northwest and West India: Fairly widespread light to moderate levels of rainfall is likely to occur over Jammu-Kashmir-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh this week, beginning today. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds at 40-60 kmph are also likely in these parts of the Northwest India.
A thundersquall, with a speed reaching between 50-70 kmph, will also be witnessed in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, UP and Gujarat on May 5, in parts of West Rajasthan over the next two days.
Rajasthan may also experience duststorm today.

The weather in Gujarat, Goa, Konkan, Marathwada, and Madhya Maharashtra will follow suit, with isolated to scattered rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds, reaching approximately 50 kmph over the next four days.
Rainfall in Gujarat, according to the IMD forecast, might turn from isolated heavy to very heavy later this week.
Northeast India: Rainy weather will also prevail over parts of Northeast India, specifically, in Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh over the next 7 days. According to the IMD, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is likely in these parts of the country, along with thunderstorms and lightning.
Parts of the three states may witness isolated heavy rainfall, which will last till May 8.

East and Central India: Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and Sikkim will continue to witness scattered to widespread light to moderate rainfall till tomorrow, whereas similar weather conditions will prevail over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh till Thursday.
The rainfall in these parts of East and Central India will be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds, between 40-60 kmph, as per the forecast.
Odisha and Nicobar Islands may witness isolated heavy rainfall over the next 3 days, the IMD stated.
South India: Similar weather conditions will prevail over parts of Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal over the next 7 days.

Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely in some parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam over the next 3 days.
Lastly, squally winds, with speed reaching between 45-55 kmph, are likely to prevail over some parts of Northwest Arabian sea, and the adjoining Oman coast, along and off Gujarat coasts, and Northeast Arabian sea. The IMD, as a precautionary measure, has advised fishermen to not venture to these areas.
