Parth Pawar, JDR Santosh Hingane should be named in Pune land grab FIR: Activists Kumbhar and Anjali Damania

The activists claim that evidence shows Parth Pawar's involvement in the land scam since May 2021 and accuse Santosh Hingane of participating in the wrongdoing.

Activists Vijay Kumbhar and Anjali Damania Tuesday submitted a letter to the Pune police demanding that Parth Pawar, son of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and Joint District Registrar (JDR) Santosh Hingane be named in FIRs probing the alleged Mundhwa and Bopodi land irregularities. They also demanded that the two separate FIRs, filed at the Khadak police station and now transferred to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and the Bavdhan police station, be merged.

Interestingly, Hingane himself is the complainant, on behalf of the Inspector General of Registration and Controller of Stamp, in the FIR registered at the Bavdhan police station.

In a letter submitted to the Bavdhan police station, the activists also alleged that officials working under the direct supervision of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar were involved in the land grab case and obstructing the ongoing investigation. Questions about why Parth Pawar has not been named in the FIRs involving his firm, Amadea Enterprises LLP, have been raised before as well.

The activists wrote, “Advocate Tripita Thakur has been representing Parth Pawar and Sheetal Tejwani for many years. Documents have been submitted by Tripta Thakur to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and Bavdhan Police Station, which clearly show Parth Pawar’s direct involvement in the Mundhwa land scam since May 25, 2021. Since prima facie evidence is available, it was expected that an FIR would be registered against Parth Pawar immediately after details were submitted to your office.”

The letter further alleges that JDR Hingane was also involved in the scam and has played a role in the execution and coordination of the relevant documents. “In fact, all these matters were expected to come to light in the police investigation. Citizens are not expected to report these matters to all agencies. Still, as responsible citizens, we are bringing the matters that we have noticed to your attention,” the letter said.

The FIR at Khadak police station, later transferred to the Pune city ROW, lists the names of nine accused. Six have been named in connection with the offence related to the land parcel of survey number 62 in Bopodi, with an area of 5 hectares and 35 ares. While two more, Sheetal Tejwani and Parth Pawar’s partner, Digvijay Patil, have been named in connection with survey number 88 in Mundhwa, covering an area of 17 hectares and 51 ares.

The ninth suspect, the suspended Tehsildar Suryakant Yewale, has been named in both cases, as Yewale issued the wrongful orders. The Pune city police said in one of their remand reports that the EOW probe concerns the overall conspiracy, while the Bavdhan probe concerns the stamp duty waiver. The activists have demanded that the two FIRs be merged into a single FIR for the same offence.
