Olympian Anju Bobby George recently took the Internet by storm after being seen in traditional “chatta and mundu” at a family gathering. The long jump star shared a string of photos and videos with her family during the time she spent in Peravoor, Kannur.

In the viral photos, George can be seen carrying a traditional umbrella, wearing a mundu and a white vest as she poses with her family members. In one of the videos, George was seen performing a movie scene. Sharing the post, she wrote, “There’s nothing quite like family reunions! We enjoy acting silly and laughing a lot. Our bond feels unbreakable.”

The post quickly went viral, winning the hearts of her fans. “Other side of you. Your moves look very nice and funny. Expecting more and jolly stuff for the coming Onam,” a user wrote. “You are a beauty,” another fan commented.

Anju, India’s first World Athletics Championships medalist, remains a prominent figure in India’s sporting history. A two-time Olympian and the national record holder in women’s long jump, her achievements served as an inspiration, considering she competed with just one kidney.

Born in 1977 in Kottayam, Kerala, Anju was introduced to athletics by her father, KT Markos, and trained at CKM Koruthode School. She excelled across multiple events, 100m hurdles, relays, long jump, and high jump, before gravitating towards the heptathlon, the official website of the Olympics stated.

Her turning point came in 1996, while pursuing her graduation at Vimala College, Thrissur, when she secured a long jump medal at the Junior Asian Championships in New Delhi. That success marked the beginning of her journey as one of India’s finest athletes.
