A chilling but fascinating video of a python climbing trees from a house’s roof in Australia is going viral. What is interesting about the video is that the python is scaling the trees in a horizontal way instead of vertical climbing. This video was reportedly taken in Queensland by the residents of the house. The video was first posted on TikTok but it has since been circulating across social media. On Monday, an X user Levandov (@Levandov_2) shared it online. Commenting on it, an X user jokingly wrote, “python parkour”. Some netizens also noted that the people in the video appeared relatively calm and left the python undisturbed. Echoing this view, an X user wrote, “Beautiful it's good it is in Australia. In other race/religion neighbourhood, snake fate would be different.” Another person joked, “Never standing under tree if I ever go to Australia!” Variety of pythons such as the carpet python and the diamond python are commonly seen in southeastern Australian states. Popular Australian snake wrangler ‘Snake Catcher Dan’ told Yahoo News Australia that carpet pythons, as seen in the video, can scale trees by using their evenly distributed muscles. Explaining this further he said, “They reach out for a strong point, then they use muscle and weight to hold to themselves up before stretching out to the next spot. It’s quite common to see carpet pythons in trees, either soaking up the sun, avoiding dogs or people or hunting birds and possums. I find more pythons on the round hunting than I do in the trees, but it’s not uncommon.”
