India had earlier won the first ODI by 25 runs via DLS Method here at the Willowmoore Park.
For a second time in the series, the contest was affected by bad weather as the game was delayed for a considerable time due to lightening, and the target for the Indian side was revised to 174 needed off 27 overs. India U-19 were 115 for two in 12.5 overs when lightening struck. Play resumed but the game was called off when India U-19 reached 176 for two in 23.3 overs.

Enathi Kitshini to bowl the next over and Kundu just smashes the 3rd ball over the ropes for a massive 6!! That has absolutely sailed over deep midwicket!! And a no ball now from the bowler. free hit time but it's kept down only to a single.
IND 165/2 after 22 overs
7 overs left and India need just 26 more runs. Kruiskamp to bowl his 6th over and after a dot, bowls a wide!! Vedant leaves it before playing a lovely drive through extra cover for a 4!!! Takes a single next to retain strike.
IND 154/2 after 21 overs
All right, lets try this again shall we? The target has been revised to 174 now, to be chased in 27 overs. Trivedi plays out the last ball of the 13th over which was left to be bowled. Trivedi on 10 off 24 balls, Kundu on 11 off 11.
India need 59 to win from 84 balls.
Ah here come the lightning alerts and there go the players. We had seen something similar in the previous ODI as well. For now, the only thing we can do is wait and watch.
Kundu with a couple of fours off Majola in the 12th over, he seems to be in a bit of a hurry and well, understandably so. It is pretty dark and gloomy and looks like another break is just around the corner.
Well howdy do! How about it. It is still darkish out there but the rains have stayed away long enough for the umpires to decide that we can have some cricket now.
There has been a reduction of overs and a revision of the target: India now need to chase down a target of 230 in 42 overs. That means India now need to score 127 more runs in 186 balls.
Well, Suryavanshi's rain of sixes seems to be followed by an actual one here and it is all looking quite gloomy in Benoni. Doesn't look like we will have a restart any time soon.
Well there were some sparks flying somewhat right before the umpires led the players off the field. Trivedi defended the ball back to the bowler Kruiskamp, who proceeded to throw it right back at the striker's end. Trivedi had to take evasive action and then the batter and bowler shared a nice long stare-off. Cold water thrown on the fledging hostilities by the umpire though, who have been told there is lightning in the distance and they promptly move players off the field.
India 103/2 in 11 overs
Well what an impact Kruiskamp has had thus far in his first two overs. He dismisses Aaron George with his very first ball of the match and then he stops the marauding Suryavanshi with the first ball of his second. It was full on off, Suryavanshi tried to slash it but it takes a top edge. The fielder at point did well to keep his eye on it, it went a long way up and he had wait a long time.
An unbelievable innings ends, 10 sixes and 1 four. Normally, an innings is considered a good one in ODIs when those numbers read the other way around.
Suryavanshi c Bosman b Kruiskamp 68 (24)
India 95/2 in 8.1 overs
Well, Suryavanshi hit his first four of the innings after that hat-trick of sixes, hitting the fourth ball over cover for but not getting the ball all the way over the boundary. He takes a single next ball and then Trivedi just blocks out the last ball, giving us more Suryavanshi for the next over.
Suryavanshi is on 68 off 23 balls, Trivedi on four off six.
Oh Suryavanshi, where is he going with this knock! Majola overitches next ball, once again Suryavanshi goes downtown for an even bigger six. The third ball is overpitched again, Suryavanshi hits it to the same place, not quite as well struck but it is six once again. Majola stuck with the same line and length, Suryavanshi hit them all to the same place.
India 68/1 in 7.3 overs
Well, Suryavanshi is in his own little bubble at the moment. He wallops the first ball of the eighth over by Majola, right down the ground for a six. That takes him past 50 in 19 balls.
EDGED AND GONE! Respite at last for South Africa. It is not Suryavanshi but a wicket is a wicket. Michael Kruiskamp brought into the attack and he picks a wicket off his very first ball of the match. George tries a cover drive but he gets an outside edge on it, caught sharply at gully.
George c Bosman b Kruiskamp 20 (19)
India 67/1 in 6.1 overs
Well, this is just incredible batting at the moment. Aaron George with three rather conventional shots to get a hat-trick of fours in the fourth over and then Basson continues... to get whacked. Suryavanshi smashes the first ball of the fifth with a pull for yet another six and that takes India to 52 in 4.1 overs in an ODI match!
Suryavanshi with the flattest, most brutal of sixes last ball of the third over, Basson the bowler again. Length delivery on off, Suryavanshi, all fast hands, cuts it away brutally over the boundary and into the little tent where the first aid team is forced to run for cover.
Suryavanshi has scored 25 runs in 7 balls. George on seven off 11.
Well how about it. JJ Basson bowled the first over, George ran a leg bye first ball and then Suryavanshi, goes upper cut for the very first ball he faced for a six. He then pulls the second, misses, big top edge that the wicketkeeper chases but it was out of his reach. The batters ran a single there, then George with a handsome cover drive that is pulled back quite impressively at the boundary, three runs taken there. Suryavanshi then pulls the fifth ball for a monster six.
That makes it 17 runs off the first over.
Aaron George and Vaibhav Suryavanshi opening the batting for India. A couple of extremely impressive young batters there and how South Africa would want a quick wicket here.
There you go, a competitive target but not something that India should find too difficult to chase if they keep their eyes on the prize and not look for some browny points in the eyes of any IPL franchise scouts as a side quest.
Kishan Kumar gets his fourth wicket and it is that of the centurion Jason Rowles, who was looking to hit as many balls as possible to the boundary at that point. Slow bouncer, it is quite incredible that Rowles tried to pull it, almost ended up swatting at it above his head as the ball went too far up. It would've probably been wide had he left it but he had committed and couldn't pull out. Caught at mid-off. Great knock but a disappointing dismissal, could be the difference between South Africa scoring something above 260 and not being able to do that.
Rowles c Chouhan b Singh 114 (113)
South Africa 232/9 in 47.1 overs
What an innings this has been from Rowles, almost single-handedly pulling South Africa out of the doldrums. He takes a single off the second ball to get to the mark in 106 balls. Meanwhile, Ambrish picked another wicket, this time of wicketkeeper Lethabo Phahlamohlaka and so its a bit of a procession for South Africa at the back end.
Ambrish breaks the partnership and that is a good catch by Suryavanshi running back at extra cover. Bosman tried to go over extra cover but cannot clear the fielder there. It fell over Suryavanshi's shoulder, he chased after it and put in a dive to get his hands on the ball.
Well Rowles stepping up now. Bosman takes a single first ball of the 39th over by Ambrish and then Rowles pulls the second over midwicket for a six. The fourth ball is fuller, Rowles swings away over midwicket again for an even bigger six. A single next ball, Rowles finishes the over on 84 off 89, Bosman on 29 off 58.
This partnership is now worth 53 runs and could start to worry India a bit. Spinner Khilan Patel has now bowled eight overs, with Ambrish having bowled four from the other end and so India's spinners haven't been able to do much thus far. Rowles is looking pretty settled now, batting on 58 off 77 while Bosman is on 21 off 46.
Jason Rowles as reached 45 in 55 balls. He has taken to steady accumalation now instead of going for the big shots and all of a sudden, he is close to getting a half-century at a decent strike rate. It's the reward you get if you decide to hunker down in the non-T20 formats of cricket, something younger players around the world seem to be slowly forgetting.
Daniel Bosman, on the other hand, is on 11 off 32 and is somewhat struggling with rotating strike.
Well it looks like Daniel Bosman has decided to dig himself in here, something his teammates have looked somewhat incapable of doing. Rowles at the other end is looking good at 24 off 34 though and India would know that they need another wicket here to prevent any late rally from South Africa.
SA 100/4 in 22 overs
Another loose dismissalthere. Manack goes walking down the track second ball of the 20th over and just lobs it back to the bowler Chouhan. He takes an easy catch in his follow through.
South Africa 96/4 in 19.2 overs
South Africa continue going for their shots. They have Jason Rowles out there, known to be a big hitter, along with Armaan Manack. It has been a steady period for them, though, considering the relatively quick manner in which they lost three wickets around the 10th over mark.
Rowles on 19 off 23, Manack on 10 off 16.
Bulbulia takes a big expansive waft at a fullish delivery from Kishan, no timing whatsoever and it goes straight into the hands of the fielder at covers. That is a soft dismissal and well, South Africa have crumbled a bit in these early stages.
Van Schalkwyk had been trying to up the ante and he perishes. He goes for a pull shot down the ground, there just wasn't enough bounce on it for that. The ball goes towards mid-on where Pangalia takes a sharp catch, running forward and sliding to take it close to the ground.
Van Schalkwyk c Pangalia b Singh 10 (20)
SA 46/2 in 8.4 overs
Some extra bounce fourth ball of the seventh over, Lagadien tries to cut it. He gets an outside edge and wicketkeeper Abhigyan Kundu takes a good low catch with the ball dipping on him.
Lagadien gets two fours off the fifth over, this time off the bowling of Kishan Singh. He has got South Africa off to a belter of a start here. Van Schalkwyk happy to give his partner most of the strike thus far.
Lagadien on 25 off 23, Van Schalkwyk on five off 13
Lagadien with the first boundary of the match third ball of the second over bowled by Deepesh Devendran. Lagadien then managed to get another four off the fourth ball of the fourth over bowled by Devendran.
He is on 13 off 17, Van Schalkwyk on two off seven.
A good start there first up from Kishan Singh, with Adnaan Lagadien taking a single off the fourth ball and Jorich Van Schalwyk held to his crease.
South Africa win the toss once again but this time, they choose to bat first. They had chosen to chase the last time around, remember.
Harvansh Pangalia and RS Ambrish were the stars as India scored 301 in 50 overs batting first in the first match of the series. South Africa then got to 148/4 in 27.4 overs before lightning threat forced the umpires to pull the players off the field. That was soon followed by intense rainfall, making play impossible. South Africa were well behind the DLS score at the time (174) and so lost the match by 25 runs.
Sunil Gavaskar wasn't too impressed with how India performed in the U19 Asia Cup finals against Pakistan. Particularly the manner in which the batters were dismissed. Here is what he wrote in his column for Mid-Day:
"The IPL auction took place during the tournament and perhaps some of those selected thought they were playing a T20 game instead of the 50-over format. Some of the dismissals to reckless shots were most disappointing and while it’s understandable that a huge target had been set nobody seemed to be ready to fight it out.
"If they win the U-19 World Cup, it will help erase the disappointment, but to do that they must learn to play the game situation and not to try to live up to the image they have got. Yes, generational talent or not, it’s performing talent that matters most."
Khilan Patel has been a worthy addition to the India U19 squad in this cycle. The Gujarat all-rounder can pack a punch with the bat down the order. He glimpsed some of that during the previous game where he smashed three sixes during a quick-fire 26. Khilan will likely head into the tournament as India's lead spinner with the left-arm wrist-spinner Mohammed Enaan also in contention alongside him.
RS Ambrish and Deepesh Devendran provide X-factor combinations to watch out for, not just at the upcoming U19 World Cup in Africa, but also the decade ahead in Indian cricket. While Ambrish can dabble well between both departments, Deepesh's skiddy pace and unique action pose threats for oppositions at the international stage. While Ambrish chipped in with 65 in the series opener, Deepesh picked up a couple of wickets in short five-over burst before the rain curtailed the match.
A little over an hour to go for the start of play in Benoni today. Muggy weather could disrupt play yet again at Willowmoore Park, as it did during the first game of the series. India managed to clinch a 25-run victory by DLS during the opener where Tamil Nadu all-rounder RS Ambrish displayed his range with the bat.
