Demanding to know who ordered the second postmortem, the former CM said, “In the first postmortem, the bullet was not removed. In the second postmortem, a bullet was found. This is what transpired.”
Union Steel and Heavy Industry Minister H D Kumaraswamy has alleged that multiple postmortems were conducted on the victim of the Ballari clash to incriminate BJP MLA Janardhan Reddy in the case.
Congress worker Rajashekar Reddy was recently killed in a clash between BJP and Congress workers over fixing a banner in front of BJP MLA Janardhan Reddy’s residence. Multiple rounds of bullets were fired during the melee. Janardhan Reddy, former minister B Sriramulu and Congress MLA Nara Bharath Reddy have been booked in cases filed over the incident.
Addressing a news conference Monday, Kumaraswamy questioned, “How many times was the body examined? What was the report in the first postmortem? What was the report in the second postmortem?”
Demanding to know who ordered the second postmortem, the former CM said, “In the first postmortem, the bullet was not removed. In the second postmortem, a bullet was found. This is what transpired.”
The reason the second postmortem was conducted was to buttress the complaint filed by a relative of the victim, which alleged that Janardhan Reddy had himself fired the shot that killed Rajashekar Reddy, Kumaraswamy further said.
Taking a dig at the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government for the “complete collapse of law and order machinery” in Karnataka, he said, “Mark my words, Siddaramaiah is the last Congress CM of Karnataka.”
Responding to the allegations of two postmortems, Siddaramaiah told reporters in Mysuru that he was not aware of the same. “The police are investigating. We will know the truth once it is over,” the CM said.
Meanwhile, 26 accused in the case were remanded in judicial custody during the day. This included Gurucharan Singh, the private gunman of MLA Bharath Reddy’s relative Satish Reddy. The bullet that killed Rajashekar Reddy is alleged to have been fired by Singh.
