The global textile industry is one of the largest sectors in international trade, dealing in garments, fabrics, and raw materials. It generates billions of dollars each year and supplies markets across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and beyond. Major exporters often work with renowned fashion brands, combining large-scale production with competitive pricing and, increasingly, sustainable practices.

India holds a reputable position in this market, known for its diverse textile base, from cotton, silk, and jute to synthetic fabrics, and a modern garment manufacturing industry. With over 45 million people employed, the sector contributes significantly to one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. While tariff increases from some countries may slow growth, India remains firmly among the top five textile exporters worldwide.
