Police in Tamil Nadu arrested two suspected Maoists from Dharmapuri district on the western border that was once a Naxal hotbed.

While S Durai Singa Vel,52,is an undertrial in a decade-old Naxal module case,S Bharati alias Ragini is an absconding accused in the case. Both are from Kundrathur,a suburb in Chennai. Police claimed Ragini was a senior member of the outfit.

The two were reportedly arrested on Friday night from a house in Papparapatti village after a joint operation by the district police and the Q Branch of the TN police that deals with extremist threats. They have been charged with sedition and assaulting government official.
