Top 10 most searched travel destinations in India 2025: Travel trends in India have evolved from family vacations to more experience-driven and offbeat adventures. Social media has played an intrinsic role in the shift, with travel influencers creating visually compelling content, real-time storytelling, and hassle-free itineraries.
According to Google’s year-end report, Year in Search 2025, travel-related searches reflected not just a surge in international tourism but also a growing inclination towards spirituality.
The Maha Kumbh Mela was one of India’s biggest tourist draws this year. Held once in 144 years, the world’s largest religious congregation took place in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, from January 13 to February 26, attracting global attention.
The Philippines ranked second among the most-trending travel destinations for Indians, driven largely by its visa-free entry for Indian travellers for up to 14 days. This policy shift eased travel and resulted in a 28 per cent rise in travel searches from India, Forbes India reported.
Georgia became a buzzword in travel conversations throughout 2025, becoming an affordable yet unexplored “European escape.” With its rich heritage, wide range of landscapes, and growing association with Indian cinema, the country saw a 40 per cent increase in Indian arrivals in the first half of the year.
This destination continued to attract tourists for its luxury experiences, family-friendly appeal, and popularity as a wedding hotspot. The visa-free regime also helped it emerge as a preferred Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) destination for Indian corporates, as noted in the Google report.
Despite the unfortunate Pahalgam terror attack, Kashmir maintained its status as a top domestic destination. In 2024, the Valley saw 2.35 crore tourists and over 95 lakh domestic visitors in the first half of 2025.
Beach-centric Southeast Asian destinations continued to charm Indian travellers. Among them, Phu Quoc gained particular attention, boosted by pop-culture influence from the OTT series The White Lotus.
Phuket remains a top choice for Indian travellers, consistently ranking among the top 10 most-searched global destinations. The island’s appeal is reflected in its economic impact; in 2024, Phuket emerged as Thailand’s top-earning province for tourism, generating a record-breaking 497.5 billion baht.

Pondicherry, with its blend of French colonial architecture and Tamil culture, remained a preferred year-end destination. Known for its relaxed coastal vibe, it emerged as a popular choice for short breaks, workcations, and cultural retreats, reflecting evolving travel preferences among Indian tourists.
