
Tensions brewed in Japanese auto major Suzuki Motorcycle India after the firm suspended three workers today over the issue of incentives in the wage settlement agreement.
According to workers,the company had revised and inked a new wage settlement agreement for three years around July last year,but management has now refused to implement some pending demands.
When asked about the future course of action,he said the workers will not go on strike or shut down the plant,but want the management to settle the issues amicably through dialogues.
Although no immediate official comment could be obtained from the company,a senior executive of the firm accepted that three people have been suspended.
Elaborating on the issue of the wage settlement,Kumar said: 8220;We accepted the agreement in July 2011. However,some demands regarding incentives were pending and the management had promised to settle those within six months.8221;
When the six-month period ended in December last year,the union started sending notices to the management to hold meeting and settle the pending issues,but in vain,he claimed.
8220;In the last couple of days we are requesting the management to hold a meeting to settle the incentive part. On Wednesday,when we went and discussed the issues with them,the HR Vice President Anil Munjal misbehaved with our General Secretary at the canteen,8221; Kumar alleged.
He said following this,a tripartite meeting was held yesterday between the Haryana government8217;s labour department officials,management and workers representatives.
8220;To our surprise,the management today morning hanged the suspension notice for three employees without any charges on the gate of the plant,8221; Kumar said,alleging that the company has called in a large number of police personnel outside the premises.
All the three suspended employees are office bearers of the SMIEU 8212; General Secretary Avinesh Kumar,Vice President Parminder Kumar and Organising Secretary Gulshan Kumar.
