Amitabh Bachchan recently visited the Ajmer Sharif to untie a sacred thread after a 40-year-old mannat wish was fulfilled. The actor,who is set to become a grandfather soon,paid homage at the dargah amidst a huge crowd of people.

Bail rejected

The Supreme Court recently rejected film producer Shakeel Nooranis plea for cancellation of Sanjay Dutts bail in the 1993 Mumbai serial blast case. Noorani,who is involved in a financial dispute with the actor,had approached the apex court alleging that he is being threatened by the underworld on Dutts behest.

Noorani had earlier sought the Bombay High Courts direction to seal two properties belonging to Sanjay Dutt. The producer had filed the suit before the High Court after the actor refused to complete a film launched by Noorani in 2001.

Speaking his heart

A disappointed Madhur Bhandarkar vented his frustration recently on his blog after he had to shelve his much-hyped film Heroine due to leading lady Aishwarya Rai Bachchans pregnancy. In his blog,besides explaining various aspects about the film,the director wrote,I am still reeling in a state of shock…. But still chose to remain silent all these days; but was coerced into breaking my silence… as I realised that the truth deserved to be told.

Taking offence

Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azads comment that men having sex with men is both unnatural and a disease has come under the scanner. Filmmaker Onir,who has no inhibitions about announcing his same sex preferences to the world,is offended by Azads comment. He is of the opinion that Azad must apologise,since as a minister of the largest democracy,he cant deny equal rights to any citizen of this country due to his personal prejudice and is answerable to the nation at large.

Mutual agreement

Actor-director Prabhu Deva and his estranged wife Latha were granted mutual divorce by a family court. The two,who got married in 1995,had been living separately for more than two years following difference of opinion and misunderstanding between them.

The couples three children are under Lathas custody and Prabhu Deva has agreed to bear their education and other expenses. The actor has paid Latha Rs 10 lakh as alimony.
