Nitish writes to PM on coal linkage to Barauni power plant

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to personally intervene in granting coal linkage to Barauni Thermal Power station in Bihar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to personally intervene in granting coal linkage to Barauni Thermal Power station in Bihar.

In his first correspondence to the PM after his party,the Janata Dal United decided to support the candidature of Pranab Mukherjee for president,Kumar sought to maintain pressure on the Centre to give his state its due.

In his letter on June 30,Kumar said: It is a matter of great disappointment that the Ministry of Coal has failed to appreciate the sensitivity of the issue coal linkage demand and has in a routine manner summarily rejected the demands raised in the all party memorandum.

The Bihar CM added that the coal ministry had never been positive towards the state governments demand for coal linkage.

On April 6,an all-party delegation from Bihar had presented a memorandum to the PM requesting coal linkage for the Barauni Thermal Power Station expansion projects. The power ministry had also written to the coal ministry to grant linkage for for the project as a special case.

Kumar wrote,The matter has not been dealt in right earnest by ministry of coal8230; I would again request you to personally intervene in the matter.
