A patient admitted to the emergency room of Meerut Medical College in serious condition after being thrown out of a moving train near the cantonment station in Meerut was killed Friday by an unknown assailant who slit his throat.
The police are yet to establish the identity of the victim, while the college administration has distanced itself from the incident. Our primary concern is to ensure medical care to patients. We have nothing to do with security of those admitted, said the Chief Superintendent of the Medical College.
The youth was being followed by a man ever since he was referred from the Pyarelal Hospital where he was first admitted with grievous injuries after being thrown out of the Jalandhar Express. The same person may have pushed him out of the train and then may have followed him. A rivalry appears to be the motive, said Vikas Chand Tripathi,Civil Lines Circle Officer.
