India on Wednesday strongly condemned the attack on the US consulate in Libya,in which the US ambassador the country was killed

India on Wednesday strongly condemned the attack on the US consulate in Libya,in which the US ambassador the country was killed. Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai called up the US ambassador in Delhi,Nancy Powell,to express condolences.

The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said,We are deeply shocked at the attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi.

India strongly condemns the violent acts which unfortunately resulted in the death of the US Ambassador to Libya and other officials. Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai has spoken to the US Ambassador in Delhi and conveyed our condolences at the tragic loss of life, he said.
