The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested a bootlegger from the city for his alleged involvement in the killing of RTI activist Amit Jethava.
Pachan Shiva 28,who was arrested from Geeta Mandir Bus Stop late Wednesday night,was wanted in the case after his name was disclosed by arrested constable Bahadursinh Vadher.
According to the police,Pachan had introduced Bahadur to hitman Shailesh Pandya,who shot Jethava dead on July 20. Pachan,Pandya and Bahadur had allegedly gone to Diu two months before Jethavas murder to work out the plan to kill the RTI activist.
Bahadur had allegedly given a contract of Rs 11 lakh to Pandya and Pachan for Jethavas killing and gave Rs 6 lakh to Pandya before the shootout.
Pandya had allegedly taken a motorcycle from one Sameer Hajirasool of Surendranagar and came to Ahmedabad along with an accomplice who is yet unidentified and is absconding along with Pandya.
Jethavas parents had filed a complaint with the Ahmedabad police alleging that Solanki is behind the murder.
