Hate speech: BSP MP Kadir Rana surrenders

The police had earlier obtained a non-bailable warrant against Rana.

BSP MP Kadir Rana,who is accused of giving inflammatory speeches days before communal riots broke out in Muzaffarnagar,surrendered in the court of Muzaffarnagar chief judicial magistrate Tuesday.

The police had earlier obtained a non-bailable warrant against Rana who has been absconding for over 3 months.

Later,a proclamation order was also issued against him for absconding.

Rana,who reached the court of CJM Kiran Pal Singh this afternoon,was sent in judicial custody for 14 days. His bail application is likely to be taken up on Wednesday.

Rana was booked for allegedly giving inflammatory speeches at a public meeting in Muzaffarnagar on August 30 over the killings of two Muslims in Kawaal. Public meetings had been banned by the district administration.
