In 2025, Indian management institutions were featured prominently across both domestic and global rankings for the 2025–26 academic cycle, with Indian Institutes of Management and select private institutions securing positions in NIRF, QS Global MBA Rankings and the Financial Times Global MBA Ranking.
Among these, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta consistently emerge as the most visible Indian names internationally, while institutions such as IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore, XLRI and MDI Gurgaon feature strongly across national and regional assessments.
According to the NIRF 2025 Management Rankings, released by the Ministry of Education, the top 10 management institutions in India for the current cycle are dominated by the IIM network, alongside select non-IIM institutions. These rankings are based on parameters including teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and peer perception.
The top-ranked institution is the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, followed by IIM Bangalore and IIM Kozhikode. IIT Delhi’s Department of Management Studies also features among the top five, reflecting the growing presence of IIT-linked management programmes in national rankings. Other institutions in the top 10 include IIM Lucknow, IIM Mumbai, IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore, Management Development Institute Gurgaon and XLRI – Xavier School of Management.

In the QS Global MBA Rankings 2026: Asia, several Indian business schools secure positions within the top 50 across the region. Indian Institute of Management Bangalore is ranked eighth in Asia with an overall score of 70.2, making it the highest-ranked Indian institution in the regional list. IIM Ahmedabad follows closely at rank nine with an overall score of 66.8, while IIM Calcutta is placed at rank 11 with a score of 64.2.
Beyond the top tier, IIM Indore is placed in the rank band of 23, while IIM Kozhikode and IIM Lucknow are both ranked jointly at 30. XLRI – Xavier School of Management and IIM Udaipur are placed in the 43rd rank band, indicating their growing regional visibility. Institutions such as IIFT Delhi, IMT Ghaziabad, International Management Institute Kolkata, Somaiya Vidyavihar University and MDI Gurgaon appear in the 52nd rank band, reflecting a broader representation of Indian management schools within Asia-focused global assessments.

In the QS Global MBA Rankings 2026 (overall global list), a smaller set of Indian institutions find representation, reflecting the more competitive and internationally weighted nature of the global rankings. Indian Institute of Management Bangalore is ranked 52 globally with an overall score of 70.2. Other Indian institutions appear in broader rank bands, with IIM Indore placed in the 151–200 band, while IIM Kozhikode and IIM Lucknow fall within the 201–250 range. IIM Udaipur is ranked in the 251–300 band globally.

The Financial Times Global MBA Ranking 2025 includes a limited but significant representation from India, with the Indian School of Business emerging as the highest-ranked Indian institution at rank 27 globally. Among the IIMs, IIM Ahmedabad is ranked 31, followed by IIM Bangalore at 57 and IIM Calcutta at 61. IIM Indore and IIM Lucknow are ranked 69 and 71 respectively, while XLRI – Xavier School of Management is placed at rank 83. IIM Kozhikode appears at rank 86 in the FT list.

Several institutions appear in national rankings such as NIRF but have limited or no presence in the QS Global or Financial Times lists, underscoring differences in ranking methodologies and international exposure criteria. Institutions such as IIT Delhi’s Department of Management Studies and IIM Mumbai feature prominently in the NIRF 2025 management rankings but do not find mention in the QS or FT global MBA lists provided.
Conversely, institutions such as the Indian School of Business, which do not appear in the NIRF top 10 list here, maintain a strong position in international rankings such as the Financial Times.
