A 16-year-old girl committed suicide by consuming poison on Thursday night after she was eve-teased by five boys,belonging to influential bhumihar families of her village. The girl took the extreme step after the Samastipur village panchayat passed a unilateral judgement terming her of loose character.
Police said the girl was eve-teased on Tuesday while she was returning home from the village flour mill. Balia Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammed Qasim said the father of the victim took the matter to the police only after the girl committed suicide. A case has been registered against the boys.
