On the eve of cable TVs mandatory switch from analogue to digital signals in four Metros, the Iamp;B Ministry on Tuesday claimed that 89 per cent of cable connections have been digitised even as it came under attack from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for trying to adopt a path of confrontation.

The ministry has sent team to all the four metros to look at the system available with the multi-system operators to ensure that no analogue signals are fed in the cable networks after the deadline.

When set top boxes are not in hand, analog system should be allowed to continue and the Centre has no right to black out television. We cant accept this stand, a PTI report quoted Mamata as saying.
