Retired schoolmaster Mussaddilal Tripathi (Pankaj Kapur),the quintessential common man is troubled by his wife’s untimely death due to the hospital’s negligence and vested interests.

Along with his young and unemployed son,Bunty,Mussaddi sets out on a pilgrimage to the four holy sites for the immersion of his wife’s ashes. When pension officers arrive at Mussaddi’s house,his neighbour Mr. Gupta tells them that he has gone away,which the officials misinterpret as his death.

Mussaddi returns only to discover that he is dead according to government files. The situation turns comical when Mussaddi takes the law in his hands as the pension officers decide to swindle his pension money.

The Buzz:

* The idea to make a feature film came in 2003-04 but since the series was being broadcast on TV,it was only in 2008 that the team took a break and started working on the script.

* The episodes would normally end without any

resolution to the common man’s problems but for the movie the director has given a proper resolution to the story
