HC orders NBW against BSP MLA
LUCKNOW: The Allahabad High Court has directed Judicial Magistrate of Badaun to issue a non-bailable warrant against BSP MLA Yogendra Sagar in a 2008 gangrape case. In May 2008,a 24-year-old girl,who had gone missing and was found after 17 days,had alleged that she was kidnapped and raped by Yogendra Sagar and his associates Meenu Sharma and Tejendra Sagar. The latter two are currently lodged in a Badaun jail.

Man sneaks into MP House,Oppn furious
BHOPAL: Taking advantage of the liberal security standards,a BJP worker sneaked into the Madhya Pradesh Assembly without anyone noticing,sat beside Panchayat Minister Gopal Bhargava and discussed some work with him. When I inquired about him,he showed me his visiting card, Bhargava said on Wednesday,four days after the incident. The Opposition Congress was not impressed. How can anyone simply walk in and enter the House, asked acting Leader of Opposition Chaudhary Rakesh Singh and demanded strict action against those responsible for the security lapse.
Sri Lankan wanted in drug case held
MUMBAI: The Maharashtra ATS on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a Sri Lankan wanted for drug smuggling in Chennai. On April 13,2007,three kgs of heroin were seized at the Chennai airport and two people were arrested. This consignment belonged to Silathurya. A non-bailable warrant had been issued against him and he was declared an absconder, said ATS chief Rakesh Maria.
UP to recruit 10,000 SIs next month
LUCKNOW: After recruiting some 35,000 constables in the biggest-ever recruitment drive in the state,UP police is set to recruit a record 10,000 sub-inspectors next month. The recruitment is part of the plan to strengthen the UP police by inducting 2.25 lakh policemen. UP currently has 15,000 SIs. We have to recruit 40,000 SIs in phases. The recruitment board would be selecting 10,000 SIs in the first phase which will begin next month, DGP Karamvir Singh said.
Sword of Honour for woman this time
PUNE: Shikha Awasthi will become the first woman doctor in the history of the Armed Forces to receive the Sword of Honour,making her the first graduate of Armed Forces Medical College to receive all three top honours - Sword of Honour,Presidents Gold Medal and the Kalinga trophy. Awasthi,who hails from Rae Bareli in UP will be felicitated on March 18. She will join the the Navy.
MP police rescue 5 minor girls
BHOPAL: Four months after anti-human trafficking units were set up in Madhya Pradesh,the police have busted a gang that kidnapped girls and sold them for between Rs 14,000 to Rs 80,000 to deras of a community which makes a living from prostitution,SP G Pathak said. Police rescued five girls,all aged between three and six years,from Mandsaur district on Wednesday,taking the number of victims freed since March 9 to 17.
