Water dispute claims girls life in Indore

Bhopal: An 18-year-old girl was stabbed to death on Wednesday when she refused to let her neighbours draw water from a tap in her home in Indore. Hukam Gaud,in his early 20s,was so angered by Punam Yadavs refusal that he stabbed her five times outside her home in Bakshibaug area. The teenager was rushed to a government hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. Sub-Inspector Ratnakar Hingwe of Sadar Bazar Police Station said the accused has been arrested while trying to flee to Vadodara in Gujarat.

BUXA West Bengal: A Royal Bengal tiger has been spotted in North Bengals Buxa Tiger Reserve and captured on film for the first time since its creation in 1983. On March 24,beat officer Manindra Sarkar had a chance encounter with the tiger and photographed it and its kill in the Chuniajhora beat of the reserve.

Congress revokes Unnithan suspension

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress on Wednesday revoked the suspension of senior leader and AICC member Rajmohan Unnithan,who had been arrested on charges of immoral act on December 22. Unnithan was found along with a Congress Seva Dal activist in a house at Manjeri. People had caught him and the woman after cordoning off the house. They were later granted bail by a court. The party had suspended Unnithan pending an inquiry which has given Unnithan a clean chit.

Q: Hearing on plea against CBI put off

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Wednesday put off the hearing on a plea objecting to the CBI move to withdraw the two-decade-old Bofors pay-off case against Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi till April 17. The case was adjourned by Metropolitan Magistrate Sandeep Garg after Additional Solicitor General P P Malhotra submitted that the original records related to the case were in the custody of the Supreme Court.

LeT militants,three jawans killed in J-K

JAMMU: Four top Lashkar-e-Toiba militants were killed and three jawans lost their lives in a two-day gunbattle in Jamp;Ks Rajouri district that ended on Wednesday. Acting on a tip-off,Army troops and police had launched a cordon and search operation in Planakanthol-Lambibari forests in Kandi Bhudal belt of Rajouri on Tuesday. During the operation,Army and police came under heavy fire and retaliated.

Ragging: Student attempts suicide

NASHIK: Disheartened due to alleged ragging by hostel seniors,an engineering student here attempted suicide by slitting his wrist veins,police said on Wednesday. Praveen Ananda Pawar,a student of BTech at K K Wagh Engineering College here,was rushed to hospital where his condition is said to be stable. Police have registered an offence against three students and two professors in this connection.
