The Kundnanis of Surat are torn between pride and despair. The day businessman Lalbhai Kundnani discovered that his son,Prashant, had passed the HSC (general stream) examination with 54 per cent marks, the 19-year-old was sent to jail as a co-accused in the murder of a security guard. On Thursday, while his father bought sweets to celebrate the results,Prashants remand period ended and he,along with two friends, was sent to judicial custody.

Lalbhai, who runs a garment export business, prefers not to discuss the murder charges. We were not expecting such a result from Prashant,as he started studying only three months before the exams. He is interested in MBA and wants to run a business. Our family members were happy with the results. The teachers and principal of Divine Child School missed him on Thursday. Everybody enquired about him.

On Wednesday,Umra police arrested the resident of Uma Bhavan in Bhatar, along with his friends Rahul Mashruwala (20) and Amir Warawala (19) of City Light Road, for their alleged role in the murder of 25-year-old security guard Shyam Yadav on Monday. An altercation over parking at Classic Complex on Ghod Dod Road is believed to have led to the attack allegedly with wooden sticks on the guard.

A day after the arrest,Lalbhai went to the police station and distributed sweets to all the personnel present to celebrate his sons academic performance. The police later handed over some of the sweets to Prashant and his friends in the lock-up.
