Up against experts

The Naxalites better watch out, if the induction of 8220;experts8221; on Left-wing extremism into the administration in Chhattisgarh is of any significance. First it was E S L Narasimhan, former director of the Intelligence Bureau, being appointed as state Governor.

Now Vishwaranjan, a 1973-batch officer, is joining the state as Director General of Police on July 4. An Additional Director in the IB, Vishwaranjan was in charge of countering ultra-Left extremism. However, Vishwaranjan was not keen to take up the state post and wanted a lien on his deputation in the IB, meaning he wanted the Centre to post him in Chhattisgarh for only two years after which he would revert to the IB. He probably has his eyes on the post of IB Director. This is not all. The latest is that IB8217;s pointsman in Kashmir NS Sandhu, batch mate of Vishwaranjan, has been ordered to come back as Special Director in Delhi.
