Two masked men fire gunshots outside chemist shop in Chandigarh’s Sector 32, assailants flee on scooter, police say
Two masked men riding a scooter allegedly fired gunshots outside a chemist shop in Sector 32 on Thursday late night. None was reported injured in the incident, police said.
Preliminary inquiry suggests that two unidentified men arrived on a scooter and fired the shot outside Sewak Pharmacy at Sector 32-D in Chandigarh.
As per police sources, a CCTV footage of the area has revealed that two persons riding a scooter (Activa), and firing gunshots. The assailants then escaped from the spot.
Sources said that the shop was open at the time of incident, and the employees were in the shop. As they noticed the firing of gunshots, panic gripped in the area.
The PCR received a phone call at 9.32 pm regarding the incident. Following which, police team from Sector 34 police station and District Crime Cell and Crime Branch reached the spot.
During the inspection of spot, police have recovered one empty shell from the scene.
The reason behind the firing is not yet clear, as the shop owners have prima facie denied of receiving any threatening calls for extortion, said police sources. Police meanwhile have initiated an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from nearby establishments to identify the suspects.
Police not ruling out personnel enmity as could be the reason behind firing.
Till the filing of story, the police teams were examining the crime scene and a FIR in the matter was yet to be registered.
