The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), on Monday announced the schedule for the ONGC Masters 2008 golf tournament.

The Rs 20 lakh prize money event will be staged at the Noida Golf Course from December 17-20. The Pro-Am event will be played on December 21, a day after the main tournament finishes.

The tournament is expected to witness tough competition as it will feature most of the top professionals in the country, including the likes of Ashok Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, Rahil Gangjee, Rahul Ganapathy, Shamim Khan, Harmeet Kahlon and Amandeep Johl.

PGTI director Padamjit Sandhu hoped the event would soon grow into a major fixture in the sport’s annual calendar and thanked the corporate support for making the event a reality. “We thank ONGC for their support and are confident that the ONGC Masters will, over the years, develop into a very prestigious event on the PGTI calendar.”

ONGC CMD RS Sharma said it was an effort towards making Indian professional golf more lucrative and competitive.
