
Gurgaon, December 31: Defending champion Tamil Nadu extended their lease on the boys title while Kerala dethroned Tamil Nadu to emerge new champion in the girl section of the 27th National junior volleyball championship here on Sunday.
Tamil Nadu overcame hosts Haryana 3-1 while last year’s runner-up Kerala girls spiked Tamil Nadu by identical margin.
In the boys section Tamil Nadu downed Haryana 21-25, 25-22, 27-25, 25-18 and Kerala girls overwhelmed Tamil Nadu 25-15, 21-25, 25-22, 25-10.
For the third place, Andhra Pradesh beat Punjab 25-14, 21-25, 20-25, 25-22 and 15-10.
In the girls section final, Kerala beat defending champion Tamil Nadu 25-15, 21-25, 25-22 and 25-18 in the final to clinch the title.
For the third place, match host Haryana beat West Bengal 25-19,25-23 and 25-15.
Lok Sabha speaker G M C balyogi and Union power Minister SureshPrabhu jointly gave away the prizes to the winners.
Haryana Chief Minister O P Chautala and Haryana assembly speakers s kadiyan, vice president Indian olympic association abhhay Singh chautala were also present on the occasion.
Mr Balayogi congratulated Mr Gopi chand gehlot for organisingthe championship successfully.
