Thane bars raided, 20 detained

MUMBAI, Dec 19: The Thane police on Thursday arrested over 20 dance bar girls for indecent behaviour with customers8217; and picked up three managers for keeping hotels open beyond the specified time limit. They were later released on bail.

Vipin Sabnis, a sub-inspector attached to Rabale police station said three bars 8212; Hotel Amir, Santosh and Swati 8212; were raided at 1 am today. Deputy police commissioner of Thane Archana Tyagi said regular raids were being carried out in different bars in Thane since the last two weeks, and 15-20 bar girls were arrested daily and later released on bail. 8220;

The arrests were made for violating the 12:30 am deadline for closure of all bars and for the obscene behaviour of the dance bar girls with customers,8221; Tyagi said adding that stern action would be taken against the bar owners and their licences could be cancelled.
