
VADODARA, Aug 18: After the expansion of the Dabhoi telephone exchange on Tuesday, the Department of Telecommunication DoT, Vadodara, expanded the exchanges at Samlaya and Sandasal on Wednesday. With this expansion, the waiting list of subscribers in these areas has been cleared.
General Manager, DoT, Rakesh Babu, inaugurated the Samlaya and Sandasal exchanges. The expansion in Dabhoi would mean an additional 384 lines. 8220;With these additional lines, we have been able to clear the wait-list of the subscribers ending July 31,8221; said the Deputy General Manager, DoT, Mahendra Pati.
With the expansion of the Samlaya exchange, 640 additional lines have been created 8212; clearing the waiting list 8212; while the Sandasal exchange has been expanded by 256 C-DOT additional lines.
Besides, a consumer service center has also been established at Dabhoi. A telecom spokesman said that all types of application forms and telecom-related commercial information on Dabhoi taluka would be available there, apart from telephone directories.
Subscribers can also submit their complaints/applications regarding billing, commercial and service matters at the center. The spokesman further said that the expanded capacity would be gradually released by October 1999, subject to laying of underground cables wherever required.
