SURAT, June 24: South Gujarat University on Wednesday appointed a five-member committee that will inquire into allegations that large-scale irregularities were being committed while giving admissions under the centralised admission system to Bachelor of Education colleges.

The committee will consist of Principal of Vapi’s Rofel Arts and Commerce College R C Shukla, deputy registrar (examination) H H Patel, Senate members Gaurang Vaid and Deepak Africawala and former principal of Sarvajanik College of Education Urmila Nanavati.

Vice-Chancellor Kapadia told Express Newsline that he decided to constitute the inquiry committee in the wake of largescale allegations of irregularities. The committee has been asked to go into the functioning of the centralised admission system and enquire into the allegations. The inquiry committee would also suggest remedial measures, Kapadia said adding it had been asked to submit its report at the earliest.
