MUMBAI, JULY 13: Chembur English held Sutarwar (Sahar) to a goalless draw in the MDFA Harwood football league at the St Xavier’s ground, Parel, today.

Sutarwar played at a fast pace. Their forwards displayed good understanding between themselves, but markmanship was not their strong point.

In the ninth minute, Subhash Adilkar of Sutarwar had an easy chance to wrest the lead, but he shot wide from close range.

Chembur English, who played second fiddle for most part of the game, had a attempt in the 14th minute but James Fernandes’ powerful try from the top of the box saw Sutarwar goalkeeper Trevor Fernandes punch the ball over for an abortive corner.

The early part of the second session was mostly confined to midfield. In the 51st minute Gerald Pereira of Sutarwar had ‘keeper Allwyn at his mercy but he delayed the shot and the ‘keeper collected the ball.

Thereafter, Sutarwar’s Aloysious Vaz and Subhash Adilkar saw their moves being cut off by the Chembur English defenders.

Earlier in the evening, Borivli Rangers failed to turn up against BPT Reynolds Institute in the Chattrapati Shivaji First Division B encounter.
