Summons issued

PUNE, March 26: Judicial Magistrate First Class V V Kankanwadi of the Pune Cantonment Court has issued summons against Shrikrishna Laxman Gadgil, owner of PN Gadgil amp; Co, leading jewellers of Laxmi Road, on a complaint made by London Liquor Agencies Pvt Ltd.

The jeweller has been charged with attempt to defraud under section 403 read with section 511 of the Indian Penal Code for an alleged unlawful attempt to encash four cheques totalling Rs 18.25 lakhs. The cheques werre issued to the firm Vastu Project.

The jeweller has also been charged under sections 18 and 26 of the Bombay Rent Act for allegedly taking unlawfull payments of more than Rs 22 lakhs without issuing receipts for the same.
