A video of a young man from Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district informing his mother of his selection into the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has struck a chord on social media. He did not share the news at home or during a celebration, but along the road, at the very spot where his mother sells vegetables to support the family.

“This is where everything began,” a resident said, pointing to the footpath. “She worked here every day so her son could dream bigger.”

As Gopal Sawant breaks the news, his mother listens calmly before her eyes fill with tears. “I only wanted him to stand on his own feet,” she is heard saying in the video. The mother-son duo hugs each other while their family and friends put colour on them to celebrate the moment.

The video was shared by an Instagram user, Vilas Kudalkar, who wrote, “Gopal Sawant from Shetkar Wadi in Pinguli was selected for CRPF to serve the country. A heart touching video of this news giving to his mother who is doing business on the sidewalk at Kudal Nagar Panchayat.”

The video has since gone viral, garnering over 12 million views and a flurry of reactions. “Really today that mother got the fruits of her hard work. She is very lucky that she got such a son,” an X user wrote. “Raised well son and that mother did set high standards, her determination was bigger than all of us!” another user commented.

“In a world where love comes with conditions and fades with time, a mother’s love stands alone—silent, selfless, and endless. She loves you in ways the world never will, not for who you become, but simply because you exist. No wonder she’s called God,” a third user reacted.
