With the JEE Main Session 1 examination set to begin on January 21, engineering aspirants across the country are entering the final phase of preparation. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued JEE Main admit cards for registered candidates. JEE Main 2026 Session 1 will be conducted in multiple shifts each day, with the morning shift from 9 am to 12 noon and the afternoon shift from 3 pm to 6 pm, as per the official schedule.

Each year, over a million aspirants appear for JEE Main to secure admission to premier engineering institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), where academic offerings are closely followed by industry exposure and career opportunities on their campus. As the exam approaches, placement outcomes continue to serve as a key benchmark for aspirants evaluating institutes, at the undergraduate level, for various BTech branches.
IIT Jammu’s latest placement outcomes, as released by the institute, show growth in compensation levels compared to previous years, recruiter participation, and career pathways across recent years.
According to the IIT Jammu placement 2025 info, the institute recorded a placement rate of 70.8 per cent, with a significant proportion of students also opting for alternative career routes. About 13.5 per cent of graduates pursued higher education or government roles, underscoring the diversity of post-graduation pathways chosen by students.

During the placement season, the highest package offered reached Rs 53 lakh per annum, while the average package stood at Rs 15.5 lakh per annum, indicating sustained industry demand for IIT Jammu graduates. More than 175 recruiters participated in the process, offering full-time roles and internships across core engineering, technology, and analytics domains.
The recruiter pool included international companies such as Accenture Japan and Money Forward Japan, alongside leading Indian firms, including BP, MathWorks, Graviton Trading, Samsung Semiconductors, MediaTek, and L&T. The institute noted that the overall performance reflected growing industry confidence in the skill base and training imparted at IIT Jammu.
A look at year-wise placement trends at IIT Jammu shows an overall improvement in both batch size and compensation levels over time. The 2022–23 placement season saw the highest salary package rising to Rs 53 LPA, up from Rs 43 LPA in 2020–21. While a moderation in average salary was noted in later cycles, overall placement percentages remained strong.
In 2022–23, around 85 per cent of registered students were placed, matching the placement rate recorded in 2021–22 and significantly higher than 2020–21. The number of companies visiting the campus also increased steadily, reflecting expanding recruiter engagement as the institute matured.

As per the official placement report released by IIT Jammu, BTech programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering recorded the highest salary packages of up to Rs 52 LPA. These branches also reported strong average and median salaries, pointing to sustained recruiter demand for core technical skill sets.
