Stanislaus champs

December 19: A brace for Jonathan Fernandes helped Stanislaus, Bandra to win the second title of school hockey today by defeating St D8217;Assisi, Borivali 3-1 in the under-14 final of inter-schools league organised by MSSA, sponsored by Thums up at the Don Bosco Ground, Matunga.

Stanislaus took the lead through Russel Drego, who scored off a deflection in the 9th minute. But D8217;Assisi came back strongly and equalised in the 17th minute through Rajesh Karekar.

Two minutes before the breather, Jonathan Fernandes scored a fine field goal to put Stanislaus ahead and then once again Jonathan scored an excellent goal of a solo run neatly placing the ball past D8217;Assisi goalkeeper Kazi, who had a good match as he came out with some good chances.
