Traffic changes in place for prologue of Pune Grand Tour 2026 cycling race

F C Road, J M Road, University Road and internal routes connecting these roads in the city will be kept closed for traffic and other operations on January 19 for the prologue of the Pune Grand Tour 2026 cycle race.

Organised by Pune District administration, in association with the Cycle Federation of India (CFI), the Pune Grand Tour 2026 is a first of its kind UCI 2.2 cycle race with a 437-km track, divided into four stages, from January 19 to January 24.

A press release issued on Saturday by deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Himmat Jadhav stated that F C Road, J M Road, University Road will be kept closed for traffic on January 19 during the Pune Grand Tour prologue between 9 am and 6 pm. Vehicles on these roads will be diverted to alternate routes, it stated.

As per the press release, the stretch between Khandoji Baba chowk to Good luck chowk via Garware bridge will be closed for traffic. Vehicles going from Swargate to Savitribai Phule Pune University and Swargate to Khadki (on the old Pune Mumbai highway) will be diverted on alternate routes to reach further destinations.

The stretch from Good Luck Chowk to Lalit Mahal hotel on F C road will be kept closed during the race. Traffic on this stretch will be diverted to alternate routes via Prabhat Road, Law College Road, Bhandarkar Road and Senapati Bapat Road.

The press release stated that a stretch on the University road between Chapekar Chowk to Range Hills Corner will also be closed. So vehicles coming towards Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) junction from this route will be diverted to alternate routes.

At the time of cycle race, the road from Ranje Hills chowk to Sancheti hospital, via Shimla Office junction, will also be closed. The route from Sancheti hospital on Deccan Bus stop, via Balgandharva auditorium on the J M road, will be closed for traffic.
