The EGOM on Dabhol is the UPA Government8217;s longest running EGOM and it has made Chairman Pranab Mukherjee throw his hands up in despair. At the last meeting, an exasperated Mukherjee asked GAIL8217;s CMD UD Choubey and GAIL8217;s Director Finance RK Goel why the oil and gas PSU8217;s clearance to pump in money in the project came with several riders that were impossible to fulfil. He then turned to officials from the Maharashtra Government and wanted to know why the power-starved state bought power at Rs 8/unit but in the case of the Dabhol where efforts are being made to limit tariff to Rs 2.9/unit it haggled over a few paise and refused to accept any financial burden on the state. An answer is awaited.
