
NEW DELHI, July 23: Dhaita trainees Sai Jayalakshmi and Jahnavi Parekh have qualified for the main draw at the Jakarta ITF women8217;s circuit.
Sai, a triple gold medallist at the recently concluded National Games, had a tough time in the last two rounds while Jahnavi hardly worked up a sweat in her wins.
Sai got past three Indonesians on her way to the main draw. She beat Moerid Moernieati 6-1, 6-0 in the first round, Batubara 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 in the second, and Vinca Rampen 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 in the final round.
Jahnavi who had a bye in the first round beat Palima 6-1, 6-0 in the first, and Mangunsong 6-4, 6-0 in the second.
Vijay Kannan, another DHAITA trainee reached the main draw at Switzerland and Netherlands. At the Swiss Junior International Tournament, he beat Gull of Estonia 6-3, 6-4 in the first round, and M Rekate of Germany 7-5, 7-5 in the second.
In the main draw, he lost to V Sanon of Germany 2-6, 3-6 in the first roundLater, in the Orangina Van Keepen tournament in Netherlands, he reached the main draw beating Briton T. Greenland 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the first, and Van Meele of Belgium 5-7, 6-1, 6-0 in the second round. He lost to C. Milos of Romania 3-6, 3-6 in the first round of the main draw according to information reaching on Wednesday.
