Radhakrishnan new SBI MD

MUMBAI, Aug 16: The Ministry of Finance has appointed M P Radhakrishnan as the managing director of State Bank of India SBI.

Radhakrishnan who joined SBI as a probationary officer in 1959 occupied several key positions in the SBI during his 38 years of service before occupying the MD post which fell vaccant after M G Bide joined Bank of India as chairman. Some of the important assignments handled by the new MD included the post of deputy managing director corporate banking, central office, Mumbai and MD, SBI Funds Management Ltd. Before that he was chief general manager, Bhopal circle and chief executive of the bank8217;s office at Bahrain.

He also occupied the post of General Manager at various Zonal offices and as deputy general manager in Calcutta and Pune. He was also an advisor to the Government of India on jute industry.
