PIL against Joshi’s son-in-law
MUMBAI:
Pune-based journalist Vijay Krishna Kumbhar has filed a Public Interest Litigation at the Bombay High Court against the state chief minister’s son-in-law Girish Vyas alleging illegal construction on a government land at Pune. The petition alleged that Vyas has started construction of a complex on the land earlier reserved for a school.

Teachers’s stir
NEW DELHI:
The HRD Ministry has decided to take a tough stand on the striking teachers’ demand for increased pay scales by refusing to initiate any further negotiations. Sources said today that the HRD ministry was adamant on not giving into the demands of the striking teachers any further as it felt that the revised pay package announced earlier was adequate.

Gangster nabbed
MUMBAI:
Sadanand Shetty, a gangster allegedly belonging to the Arun Gawli gang and wanted for murder and extortion was arrested on Thursday morning after the police raided the Red Brick chawl in Byculla to evict him.The police were on the lookout for Shetty since Wednesday night after he beat up three policemen who ordered him off from the ladies compartment of a CST-Kalyan bound train.

Bus-train mishap
KARUR:
At least 19 bus passengers were killed and about 26 injured, when the Madurai-bound Madras Express train from Chennai rammed a transport corporation bus at a manned railway crossing on the outskirts of Karur district of Palghat division.
