Naxals blast MP’s house
HYDERABAD:
The house of a TDP MP was partially damaged in an explosion triggered by Naxalites of banned Peoples’ War Group (PWG) in Nizamabad district of Andhra Pradesh. No one was in the house of G Ganga Reddy, the Nizamabad MP, when the blast occurred on late Friday night at Kespally village. Reddy was at Nizamabad, district headquarters.

Fires in city claim 5
MUMBAI:
Five persons were burnt to death and seven injured in three seperate incidents in the city on Saturday.
According to Fire Brigade sources, three persons died when a fire broke out on the ground floor of Vishal Shopping Centre on S V Road at Malad around 5.40 pm. The flame soon spread to the other sections.

Salman in court
JODHPUR:
Filmstars Salman Khan and Satish Shah appeared before a local court here in connection with criminal cases filed against them for allegedly poaching protected wild animals last year.
When the matter was taken up on Friday, Chief Judicial MagistratePramod Kumar Vashist directed the two actors to stand in the dock before commencing the hearing.

Pak intruders killed
JAMMU:
Four Pakistani intruders, including a major were killed in retaliatory fire by Indian troops across Poonch sector in Jammu division. The Indian soldiers retaliated when the Pakistani troops opened fire on forward posts in Poonch sector on Friday.

TN blast kills 3
SALEM:
Three people were killed and four others seriously injured when a boiler exploded at a rice brawn oil extraction unit at Puliyampatti near Omalur in Salem district of Tamil Nadu, on Friday night. The three victims were killed on the spot. The injured have been admitted to hospital in critical condition.

Actor’s fans held
MADURAI:
Eighteen members of the Kamal Hassan Fans Association were taken into police custody for burning the effigy of Hindu Munnani leader Ramagopalan here on Saturday. The fans were protesting against burning of the actor’s effigy on Friday by Hindu Munnanivolunteers to protest against some alleged remarks against Mahatma Gandhi in his yet-to-be-released film Hey Ram.

Train derails
JALANDHAR:
Seventeen of the 32 carriages of an empty Faridkot-bound goods train on Saturday jumped the track near Khojewal Railway station on the Jalandhar-Ferozepur section. Sources blamed the accident on “overspeeding or mechanical failure”.
