Opposition question the use of Marker pens

The opposition leaders alleged that the voters at several polling booths were being inked with marker pens instead of indeliable ink which was a charge denied by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. MNS chief, Raj Thackeray alleged how the system was being misued to benefit the ruling alliance.

BJP leader Vinod Tawde on Thursday said how the people of Maharashtra and Mumbai are mature voters. He said that they would take a judicious decision while voting in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls, keeping in mind of the interest of Mumbai and Maharashtra.

Door-to-door campaigning

SEC allowed door to door campaigning in the last 24 hours before the polling which triggered political backlash, particularly regarding reports of money being distributed across the state. Even after the Commission announced that the public campaigning must end at 5:30 pm on January 13, many candidates continued door-to-door visits crossing the deadline.
