
Rathod elected Sadadi Jain Sangh chief
Devraj Lalchandji Rathod was elected president of the Sadadi Ranakpur Jain Sangh at its 11th gathering held at the Ganesh Kala Krida Manch recently.
Javerchand Bafna and Dinesh Nagarji Jain were elected vice-president and secretary respectively. The sangh also donated an amount of Rs four lakh towards the Central Welfare Fund for the families of Kargil martyrs.
Award for Pillai
The Indian Association of Leprologists felicitated Dr A R K Pillai, president, Indian Leprosy Foundation with an award for excellence in leprosy work.
Dr N K Ganguly, chairman, Indian Council of Medical Research presented the award to Pillai at the biennial conference of leprologists held at Chandigarh.
Edulink launched
Edulink, a newsletter for teachers and students brought out by Judson High School was released in a function here on Thursday.
The main objective of the newsletter is to bridge the gap between schools. Principal of Judson High School F Moore proposed a vote of thanks on the occasion.
US centre
The US amp; Foreign Commercial Service will launch its Business Information Centre BIC on September 27.
The event will include an introduction to the new BIC which features Internet access, the new US Company information and contact databases. In addition, the BIC will be hosting two catalog shows during the month of September and October on Infrastructure8217; and Medical Equipment8217; sectors.
Slimca-99
The Rotaract Club of Pune-Kothrud is organising Slimca-99 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hall on Wednesday.
Slimca- 99 is a beauty pageant which is being held in aid of QWIP Musiquest Centre for Handicapped. The elimination rounds have already been completed. The main show will be preceded by a preliminary round where noted beauticians Nalini and Yasmin will decide the winners for the most beautiful hair, skin and smile.
SET results
Results of the eighth Maharashtra State Eligibility Test for Lecturership SET conducted by the University of Pune on July 11 8217;99, were declared on September 23.
Out of the 6,679 candidates who appeared for the examination, 306 have passed, the University has announced. The next SET examination will be held on January 16, 2000.
NSS gesture
A batch of 100 students of NSS unit of Ness Wadia College presented a variety entertainment programme for the inmates of the Dr Bandarwala Leprosy Hospital at Kondhwa Budruk on the occasion of the Ganesh festival.
Since several patients were unable to visit the city to attend programmes, the students, along with NSS programme officer Dr P C Pardeshi visited the hospital.
