Valsad: Sanjay Bangars 109 led the way for Railways,as they took complete command of the game against Gujarat. Resuming on their overnight 61/1,Bangar and Yere Goud 62 not out propelled their team total to 327/5 at the end of days play to sit pretty with a 236 run lead in the first innings. Siddharth Trivedi and Mehul Patel took two wickets apiece for the home side.

Gony strikes again

Mohali: With 5/21,Manpreet Singh Gony claimed his second five-for of the match to humble Himachal Pradesh to 82 all out in their second innings. Punjab need just 72 runs in their second innings to claim all five points with two full days still left to play. Resuming on 37/1 after bundling out the visitors for 197 in the first innings,Punjab collapsed to 186 all out mainly due to Vikramjeet Maliks 5/68 to give Himachal the early advantage and the first innings lead. But all that changed drastically after Gonys show.

Orissa claim advantage

Sambalpur: Unbeaten half-centuries from captain SS Das 71 and Niranjan Behera 88 helped Orissa gain the advantage against Tamil Nadu in Sambalpur. Tamil Nadu began the day with their overnight score of 323 for 5,and the last five wickets collapsed for 38 runs. Left-arm spinner Dhiraj Singh finished with figures of 4/109,while Alok Chandra Sahoo chipped in with two. Das and Behera led the way for Orissa with an unbroken 173-run second-wicket stand.

Vadodara: Beginning the day on 335 for 3,Manish Pandey brought up his second first-class century. Right-arm seamer Murtuja Vahoras late strikes bowled out in the 48th over of the day,with wicketkeeper Pinal Shah completing five catches. Irfan Pathan played the lone hand for Baroda,hitting seven fours and two sixes en route to an unbeaten half-century. Vinay Kumar and Mithun finished with three wickets apiece,while S Aravind and Sunil Joshi shared the remaining.

Maharashtra take lead

Pune: Riding on Kiran Adhavs five-wicket haul,Maharashtra bowled out Uttar Pradesh for 209 to take an 84-run first innings lead. Skipper Mohammad Kaif top scored for the visitors with 65 while Parvinder Singh made 47. Samad Falla took three wickets. In the second innings,the home side are comfortably placed on 102/2 in 30 overs.
