
JALANDHAR, July 10: The indefinite strike of the postal employees entered the second day here today.
All post offices and RMS offices remained closed in Jalandhar district. No dak was despatched, received or delivered since all the postmen were on strike.A big gate rally was organised before the GPO in Jalandhar.
Meanwhile, Narinder Cerma, press secretary of the district BJP unit said the strike had served only to harass the general public.
Patiala: The sub-post offices and the head post office here wore a deserted look following the strike.The striking employees held a rally in front of the main gate of the head post office here, despite heavy rain.Divisional secretary of Postal Employees Class III Union Karnail Singh said that the strike will continue till the acceptance of long-pending demands put up by the JCA.
Ludhiana: Postal services in the city remained virtually paralysed. The booking and delivery of registered letters and speed post was also adversely afected. Which affected the trade and industry.
However, M.K.Khan, senior superintendent of post offices, city division claimed that 17 post offices out of a total 46, were partially working and providing money order booking, bill collection and saving banks facilities.
