Air-India put on Mayor8217;s crown

Lead by the wily Ashok Shinde and Prashant Chavan, Air-India upset traditional rivals Mahindras 20-15 to claim the Mayor8217;s Cup kabaddi title. Chembur Kreeda Kendra lifted the women8217;s title for the second year in succession, edging out Suvarna Yug Pune 8-7.

After the break, with Mahindras leading 6-5, Sagar Bandekar of Mahindras was trapped thrice in the match and that affected the team. Vilas Jadhav collected six points through his incisive raids but that was not enough for the losers. Prashant took the airmen up 10-7 and won the Player of the Series award. Sumati Pujari of Suvarna Yug took the honour for the women.

Men: Air-India bt Western Railway 17-15, Mahindras bt Central Railway 24-2.

Women: Suvarna Yug Pune bt Dr Shirodkar 22-12, Chembur Kreeda Kendra bt Vishwashanti 20-16.

TT camp

An open summer table tennis camp will be held at Khar Gymkhana from May 3, 7 p.m. onwards, for two weeks. The camp will be conducted by eight-times National champion Kamlesh Mehta. All participants should report on May 3 at 6.45 p.m.
